There Is No One Alive Who Is Youer Than You!

I haven't posted in quite a while. I guess a lot has happened. I'm single and out in the dating world again and let me tell ya its fabulous! Not... Idk what the deal is but people keep setting me up with guys that def aren't my type, and the ones that could be are all my flippin height! Where have all the tall guys gone?? My first blind date was with my ex Eric, so I've given the blind dating thing like 5 tries since and they have all been great guys but not interested in them that way. Its been pretty hard letting go of Eric still, I thought I'd be over it by now its been like 3 months! It was never this hard with previous relationships. I have good days and bad days. I'm still truckin. I've definitely decided that I don't want to be in a relationship anytime soon and just want to focus on myself and school. I decided the next guy I go for I will date for a while and I have to be totally gaga over before I take that step again. I don't know what is with these girls who jump from guy to guy and don't even really like who they are with. Although I've had some pretty lame dates each one I've learned more about myself and what I'm looking for in my future man.

Oh I broke my stupid foot a few months ago I wanna say the end of July. I was double dutch jump roping with my friends and hopped in and rolled my foot and it broke the 5th metatarsal. 1st broken bone! Not gonna lie is was awful! Crutches for 3 weeks. Couldn't work for a month. I'm still in the boot at work and the gym but I can walk around without it doing other things. Its been forever. Its so annoying!

I'm going to school at WSU this semester and love my teachers. (Funny story I was set up on a blind date before school started and turns out he is my Physiology Lab instructor now! He's the only one I've really had an interest in and we are still hanging out but are building that friend foundation first.) I'm doing well in my classes and working my butt off! My friends tell me I don't have a life outside the hospital and school haha but  I gotta do what I gotta do. I'm still working at the Hospital and really love it. My favorite units are Pediatrics, OB (with the babies), and the ER.

I applied for an LPN program down in Orem. I really want to move back to Provo if I can because I have some great friends down there and loved the social atmosphere. Its the first time i've applied to that school so I feel like its a one in a million chance i'll get in in January but keep me in your prayers! I may move back down in January anyway if I find a job with IHC and just go to slcc 2 days a week and work on the Nursing Bachelors until I get into the Orem school. Its really hard right now because I am the kind of person who makes plans and follows them.. but right now I don't have a plan and it stresses me out! My future has no set plan and I'm just going where the wind blows me.

I was thinking about moving to South Ogden and have been looking at places and praying about it of course. I got my answer last Sunday. I have just been called as Relief Society Teacher in my NSL ward! I am thrilled and so nervous. I feel like that was the answer to my prayers and I need to stay put until January comes around. I'm so excited to teach YSA Relief Society I really feel like I can be a good role model for the girls ( not trying to toot my own horn) and in the process learn more about myself and gain an even stronger testimony. I love the gospel so much!! My first lesson was supposed to be today... :( but during sacrament I got sick and had to make an emergency exit :/ brings me back to 5th grade when I was singing on stage in front of the whole school and had to run out and in the process threw up on some kid haha. He was prob traumatized. Luckily I made it to the bathroom this time!

I just took a look at my parents blog and feel like I'm missing out on my little sister growing up... She is so talented! She just finished starring in yet another play and is a danceaholic :) I'm so proud of her and everything shes doing! We are so different in our talents and I really can't express how proud of her I am! I hope she will always turn to me with problems she faces and that she always looks to me as an example that goes for all my cute little cousins too, I always try to set a good example :) I love you all!!

(I'm gonna post hawaii pics soon and misc things.)

All That I'm After Is a Life Full of Laughter

A lot has happened since I last wrote.

I moved in with the Shoemakers in May! Kierstens grandparents are serving a mission in london and all three of us live in a huge mansion in North Salt Lake!!! I have my own kitchen and big screen downstairs and my room is on the opposite side of the house from the newly weds (luckily!) Its actually way fun! I love living with Kiers and have always like josh :) There is also a little calico kitty name Katie that her grandparents left behind. She is the weirdest cat. She loves people food and loves to cuddle! She also catches mice everyday. Just yesterday we saw her walkin along the fence with a mouse in her mouth!

I'm working at the IHC Mckay Dee Hospital in Ogden and absolutely loooove it! It is so nice. The work isn't super fun I am a CNA (i'm an official butt wiper...) but all the other jobs that come along with it is great. I work Float Pool so I get to float to each unit. I am learning so much! It is actually really hard. Each unit is so different. At the moment I am still orienting on each floor, I finish orientation June 9th. My favorite so far has been the Pediatrics wing. I fell in love! I love working with little kids and babies! It's my calling! Ah! I can't even begin to explain how fulfilling it was and how fun it was working with them. I get to orient that unit again this next week since it is so different from the others. IHC is seriously such a good place to work, there are amazing benefits, and I will probably get Full Time pretty soon. Cross your fingers!

I am still working at the Urgent Care as a Medical Assistant in Lehi... Commuting is sooo not fun I actually hate it. I am trying to find a dinky PT job close to home until I get full time work at IHC. Im no going to school in the summer! Can I get a Hallelujah?!! Last semester went well, I just need a break. Im really hoping to get into a LPN or RN program this January... Send your prayers my way. I am going to go to Weber next semester and do a few more generals and take an online class at SLCC.

Eric and I are doing really well! He is the Love of my Life! I seriously don't know how I got so lucky. He treats me like a princess and we just have so much fun together, he is my best friend. I have so much respect for him and it comes so easily. We've decided to start getting serious :) we're going to go to the temple a lot more and figure out what our next step will be! It will either be good or bad.. I'm praying for good!

Eric actually just drove to san diego last night with his family. His little brother is going on a mission in 2 weeks so they wanted to do a family trip before he left! I was invited... sadly I had to decline. I work all weekend and need the money. Im also going to Hawaii here pretty soon so I can't take time off! They are going to the san diego temple, sea world, san diego zoo and deep sea fishing! And get to swim with the dolphins at sea world. Its killing me i've been wanting to go to sea world and the san diego zoo for a while now! Oh well! I can't complain.

This weekend I work quite a bit, I have my good friend Mattie's Bachelorette Party Saturday. Everyone is getting married it is so weird... And moving away! Jessica moved to another state and Mattie is going to be moving to D.C.

Growing up is weird!

I have a million pics to post... Jessicas going away party, Haleys bridal shower, Me and Erics trip to the zoo, and a bunch of random ones! I need to get a wireless router so that I can use the internet on my laptop. All of my pictures are on my laptop!

Baileys 12th Birthday!

I'm a little behind I am going to get a lot better at updating my blog come summertime. On February 26th, Baileys Birthday she flew out to Cali to visit me! I was so excited :) I got off work that day at 3 and drove straight to the airport to pick her up! We then went to the store and picked up some stuff for dinner and her birthday cake. We also hit up a red box and she picked out Harry Potter. After the store we went to Erics house in Centerville and we ate some spaghetti, with french bread and salad. It was yummy bay had picked it out for her birthday dinner. Then Eric and Bay played Mario Kart while I made her a chocolate chocolate cake which is my favorite as well mmm! We have good taste. Once it was in the oven we all took turns playing mario kart. Then we frosted the cake and sang happy birthday to my favorite little dude! Then we go cozy and stuck Harry Potter in. Eric and Bay fell asleep half way through the movie to me tickling them haha. It was so cute, I kept looking at bay while she was sleeping I was so excited for her to come down. She is an incredible young woman and I love her to death. She has so many attributes that I as her older sister look up to her for. Since she turned 12 I thought it would be a good to think of 12 qualities I love most about her.

1. She is friends with EVERYBODY
2. She is outgoing and bubbly
3. She stands up for what she believes in even if it may not be the "cool thing" to do. And she is respected and looked up to for it.
4. She is very smart and hard working
5. She is an incredible dancer (something her sister never excelled at.)
6. She is loving towards everyone. I know that this sort of goes hand and hand with #1, but it is different. She will always play with her younger cousins and loves to. She always makes you feel special and loved when you are around her. She has a way of including everyone and makes sure you know she cares.
7. She has a very good sweet spirit. She is always "choosing the right." She does what she is supposed to and can see what is right and wrong. She has a testimony of the gospel and enjoys it.
8. She is hilarious and tries to make people laugh. She can always make me laugh with her goof ball ways like: dancing non stop all day everyday, wearing her ridiculous plastic glasses around all day just because she can (they don't have any lenses,) tripping over anything she may come in contact with, making up words that don't make sense, and many other things.
9. She is always willing to help. I noticed she is also very helpful in the kitchen. But that is also my mothers doing. She saw where she messed up with me, by not having me help her in the kitchen, resulting in me being kitchen retarded. (Sorry Eric!)
10. She knows who she is and is confident. At 12 I was the biggest dork in school and my friends can agree with that. I was always looking for myself and didn't really gain a confidence until 15-16. I know she is still figuring herself out but she is a lot farther along then I was. I just love how she doesn't care what people think about her most of the time. And at 12!
11. She loves having fun and doesn't like sitting around. She always wants to play games or be doing something. I love how she can skateboard and surf I think it is super cool! I definitely struggle with balance =/
12. I love that she is my sister!!! I know she looks up to me and that makes me want to be even more of good influence to her. I want to be better when I am around her or think of her. We need examples in our lives. I have amazing examples including my Mother, Sister and other family members. My Aunt Ashley has always been an example in my life and I've always looked up to her and admired her. As well as my Aunt Michelle.

Well there is my little memento to the best sister in the whole wide world. I couldn't have picked a better one.

Blowing out the candles!! Erics Mom got caught in the pic as well!

Kiersten's Wedding

I just realized I never wrote about Kiersten and Joshes wedding! Kiersten has been my best friend since 9th grade and is like a sister to me :) She got married and officially became a Shoemaker, March 13th at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building it was very elegant and classy. She looked breathtaking!

I was the Maid of Honor so I went to various things with Kiers. One of them being a bridal shower with her Mother-In-Law and Josh's Family and Neighbors. She NEEDED me there since she didn't know more than half of the women there! She got a lot of good stuff, one woman was very creative and made a cake out of towels with her wedding colors: Navy blue and light pink (I picked them out for her!)

This was a really cute apron she got that says, "What happens in the kitchen stays in the kitchen." I don't think kiers will ever wear it or set foot in a kitchen but time will tell!

She got a cookbook... I think these women are trying to tell her something...
Some of the Presents including the Towel Cake
Kiers and I.. Not the best pic but its the only one of us I got that day.
The fiance made an appearance and Kiersten couldn't have been more thrilled!

I also had the opportunity to throw Kiersten a bachelorette party and it was so much fun! Kiersten had a great night with her girls; especially since it was her last night of freedom! We had a lot of great food and the party was a success! It was good seeing some of our old friends, life definitely gets busier the older you get!  Here are a few pics of the party, I wish I had gotten more!
The invitation I made for the party!

We got to see some old friends!
Kierstens sister and cousins
The crew~ Mattie, Jessica, Jaelyn, Kelsey and Brooke
We played some ScAnDaLoUs games
We had a blaaaast!
The gift I got kierst! She got to pick what she wanted before hand so wasn't really a surprise!

I haven't seen any of the actual wedding pictures yet from the photographer but I got a few of the ceremony and reception! Kiersten looked amazing and I absolutely adored her dress. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous and was everything she could've hoped for. I am just glad I was apart of it and could be there for her on her special day!

Migrating Back to B-Town

I am still waiting to hear back from the DATC to see if I got into their LPN program. I've been looking for a new medical job in the salt lake and farmington area (and everything in between) and haven't had much luck yet. I decided once school is out April 29th that I will be moving back up to Bountiful to live with my best friend Kiersten and her husband. Her grandparents just left on a mission and they are living in their huge mansion! It will be fun living with her, we'll get to go to the gym together! Man I can't wait to do Body Combat again.. it has been forever.

Im moving for a few different reasons:

1. I plan on applying to Weber State Universities Nursing program till I get in (or DATC which is connected with them and getting my LPN then transferring to WSU)
2. Eric works in SLC and is moving back home to centerville to save money. Since he has a good job in salt lake and if things continue progressing with us that will probably be the area we stay in.
3. If I don't get into WSU or DATC for Fall 2010 im going to go to Salt Lake Community College and work on getting generals done for a Bachelors in Science of Nursing. I love SLCC its easier, and cheaper! I've talked to a lot of Nurse Practitioners and they have all told me to get my Bachelors. IHC won't even higher RN's if they don't have a bachelors. The way the economy is going it would be a much safer bet.

I absolutely love my job at the urgent care right now (im also getting really good at drawing blood!) It will be hard to leave so hopefully I find a job just as good if not better! Its also going to be hard to leave Provo. I have really loved Provo and have made some amazing life-long friends here! I definitely know that Provo was the right move for me I wish I had done it sooner. Live and Learn...! Or maybe just listen to your parents? Bahaha. I seriously have the greatest parents in the whole wide world! I don't know how I got so lucky. I just wish I had been smart enough to listen to what they had to say and wish I wouldn't have been such a bratty teenager. Im not sure what it is about being young... why do we have to figure things out the hard way? I don't think I'll ever know that answer. All I know is Im grateful for the wonderful example they have been in my life, and im crossing my fingers that my little sister will be smarter than I was listen to them and me! Im sure she will, she is such a good girl and such a sweetheart :)

California Vaca

Eric and I just got home from cali this week! We had so much fun. I flew in Wednesday the 17th and hung out with my family and layed out by the pool with Casey, Candy and the Kids. Lucy adores the water Wednesday she played in it so much she strained her muscles and when I dried her off she yelped! Jack Russells don't know when to stop. Even at her old age of 10! She just turns into a puppy again when there is water around. It was so funny my mom kept looking at all of us outside through Nana and Papas window, I just started cracking up and then said, "Mom what are you doing?! You're being a creeper!" She couldn't stop laughing. It is her new favorite word now. (I first heard that word back in august from my roommates, oh Utah words.)

Thursday I layed out by the pool again and swam and played with my dogs. Then my mom came home and we got ready and drove to the airport to pick up my hunka-hunka-burning priesthood! (Thats what my bishop calls good boys that us girls should date haha) We had a fun little convo in the car with my mom, Eric really liked my mom and thought she was hilarious! But lets be honest, who doesn't?? We then went back to the house and ate dinner and watched basketball, yuck! But I've learned that in March thats what you watch... I'm getting used to it. We played Mario Kart on the Wii with everyone after :)

Friday Eric and I woke up early and drove my mom to work so that we could have a car. Then we got ready and went to the beach. The whole trip we had incredible weather! The beach was perfect not too hot and it had a nice breeze. (By friday I finally had shed my utah white winter coat and transformed into a tan cali girl like my sister!) Except Eric turns black in the sun so he kinda stole my thunder. I forgot how much I love being tan, and how much I love the sun/beach. The rest of my family joined us at Doheny after work. Eric, me and Bay played volleyball and paddle ball in the sand. Then layed out a little more. Eric and Bay started getting bored of sun worshipping and wanted to bury me in the sand. I declined and offered up bailey instead. Which she graciously accepted! Eric buried her in pretty deep too! She was a sand crab after.

Later that night we went to Brian Hadley's wedding. I was excited since I hadn't seen his now wife, for a while. I had gone to Israel with her when I went with Nana and Papa. They are super cute together. The wedding was seriously to die for it was gorgeous! Mary Ann looked stunning and it was one of the nicest most elegant weddings i've been to in a while. It was in the Santa Ana area and Eric served his mission there and pointed out things on our way there. It took place at a hotel and the whole room overlooked the ocean.

Saturday my family, eric and I decided to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain! The last time I had been was with the dicksons like 5 years ago. It is absolutely my favorite theme park too! We all had a blast. Everyone forced me to go on superman and I haven't been that terrified on something in a very long time. After it was over though I felt like a baby it really hadn't been that bad! My favorites were definitely X2, Riddler and Batman. Dejavu... was all right it was only our second roller coaster and it was pretty freaky!! Goliath was pretty freaky too it had a huge drop! Before a few of them had begun we all wondered what the heck we were doing on these rides! I was so proud of my Mom she went on everything so did my sister! I don't know of many moms who will do those extreme roller coasters. It was a very hot day that day we all were dying. By the end of the day we were all pooped, we ordered pizza from a place called numero uno and it was delicious! Then all fell asleep on the car ride home.

Sunday we woke up and got ready for church. Bailey was getting honored for going into the young womens in sacrament! I was stoked to be able to be there, I am so proud of her :) she is such a good girl. After church we went up to the Schooley's house in san diego and hung out and ate. It was another beautiful day. I think it is safe to say that EVERYONE adored Eric. He really is an amazing guy, good family, strong in the church, is very smart, and is very motivated. I knew everyone would love him :) Papa really liked him! Eric is a big hunter he has like 6 guns and a nice bow and loves hunting. One night papa showed us all his guns and his bow. Eric really enjoyed that and I learned that guns are very expensive and apparently even if guns look a like they do very different things. Eric really like everyone as well, him and my dad got along great and enjoyed watching bball together. All in all it was a very good trip!

February

I set up my best friends little sister Morgan with Erics little brother! We all went to the globe trotters game with his family. I was really surprised the globe trotters was really fun and hilarious I recommend it to anyone!
I am trying to get more pictures of us I always forget!

Eric and I bought our plane tickets yesterday! I am coming to cali during spring break on March 17th and Eric is coming on the 18th! I am so excited to see my family and for everyone to meet Eric :) I am still working at the Urgent Care. I absolutely love it! The clinic has gotten a lot busier too so I am learning even more and work just flies by. I am working hard in school and can't wait for summer! I get out April 29th and am counting down the hours. I had an amazing valentines day with Eric! Saturday he came and picked me up and gave me pink roses and a super cute card, we then went to a place called Good Wood BBQ and it was incredible! Afterwards we went back to his apartment and he gave me an incredible music box. It was so cute. I had loved his grandmas and talked with her about hers and didn't even realize he noticed :) we also watched the Notebook he was such a trooper! On valentines day I went to his apartment with my roommates while they were all at church and me and my roommate decorated our boys rooms. (She is the one who set eric and I up and is engaged to erics roommate) Last night we celebrated Kierstens 21st birthday and went hottubing and swimming in an indoor pool. It was fun! The guys were a little crazy as usual and since kierstens fiance was the one who put everything together brought a cake and no plates or forks so all the guys took a handful of cake haha all the girls stayed away from that!

My Music Box with my favorite colors!
It plays its a wonderful life

Erics Room! I cut out a million hearts and on each one wrote what I like about him. Then on his bed wrapped up cookies, put his favorite candies, a picture frame, a mixed cd and a water bottle (inside joke) His roommate knew about the whole thing and video taped his reaction it was priceless! He couldn't stop yelling lol!

Road Trip?!

Hey everyone!

So Eric really wants to meet the family soon so we've been planning on when this is going to happen. I hang out with his family like once a week so he has to meet everyone for at least a few days! We've decided it will either be valentines day weekend since Monday is a holiday and he'd get work off or March 17th since its my spring break! The only problem with February is I work Friday, Saturday and Monday.. So I can either try switching people so I get the same amount of hours or go in March! The only probleme with spring break is he can't take work off. He may be able to take the Friday off so we could do Friday, Saturday, Sunday. But I am really excited about this trip! I know everyone will like him a lot hes such a good guy he'd fit in with the fam really well. The more I get to know him the more I think him and my dad would get along perfectly!

1. They both watch pretty much every basketball and football game on tv and both get super into it
2. They both have a similar sense of humor
3. Both are active and like playing sports ( however my dad plays more than him and is more active haha go dad!)
4. Eric is a hunter like he LOVES it and my dad likes going but isn't in love with it like Papa, but they'd have fun
5. Plus Eric is just smart and knows how to carry on a conversation! Which we all know my daddy needs sometimes :)

Anyway I'm sure there are more things but I don't want to keep the list going. I made Eric dinner tonight! And it actually went well, I was a little nervous. I am sort of what you would call... a kitchen idiot! Im getting better... but I have a loooooooooong way to go. I decided to make navajo tacos and he loved them. He had never had them before. Unfortunatley my tacos didn't turn out anywhere close to my dads but i'm getting there. We just get along really well. Today he said, "Um are we a weird couple? We never argue about anything!" It is so true I'm not sure its just a really different relationship with him. I feel like I couldn't ever fight about anything with him, there is nothing important enough to fight over! Its definitely a nice change.

Oh on a different note I got called as Service Commitee Co-Chair in my ward! We had our first meeting today. I am really excited about it. I haven't really had an important calling like this before besides in Young Womens. It fits me perfectly I've been wanting to get more involved in service.

I also found out that my sister is going to come to Utah and visit me for a few days! I couldn't be happier we're going to have a girls weekend and have a sleepover at my place! Its going to be so fun. Shes coming on her birthday in the Evening which is February 26th! She is going to be 12.. Wow I can't believe how old she is. Shes going to be in young womens! I sound like such a dork but it seems like yesterday she was born and I was so excited to finally have my little sister!!! One of the happiest days of my life by far :)

Kiersten, Jaelyn, Me and Kierstens Fiance
My daddy and sis and I
Most of the Dickson Cousins!
I love this Pic of Sam he was not having it

Well life has been pretty dang good lately! I just started school back up and am taking English (research writing), Human Physiology and Chemistry. This semester is definitely going to kick my butt! I am applying to Weber State University next week and their nursing program for the Fall. I am excited! Last semester of generals can I get a Halleluiah?!

I officially have a man in my life, besides my amazing daddy! His name is Eric Dastrup and he is the sweetest guy I have EVER met. We have a lot in common and just have a lot of fun together! He is a really good guy and has an awesome family. He definitely has a lot of other traits I admire as well :) We have been dating close to a month now and it has been great! He is actually taking me to a Range tomorrow to go shooting. He has a 5 different guns (he is a big hunter) and I chose the pistol and am super excited to try it out!

Not much of an update but thats really all thats been going on in my life. I am Kierstens' Maid of Honor so we've started planning her wedding which has been really fun. She went with my color scheme ideas which are Navy Blue and Light Pink. She's also picked out her dress, set the temple date, and booked a reception place. Its starting to come along!
