Where there is Life there is Love and Laughter

Jacks vs Huskys... My jack russells were so hyper and bouncy. Kiara rarely jumps its so weird getting used to it. If I dangle a toy above her she just gets frustrated and doesn't try to jump haha I think my jacks were jumping at a week old. It is kind of nice that shes not constantly jumping up on our legs, shes just attacking our feet ALWAYS. I don't know why she loves feet so much but she does. She is also a lot more mouthy than my jacks were. She bites softly for the most part though.

I'm trying to leash train Kiara. She hates the leash she throws little tantrums all the time. She also cuts in front of me all the time and I trip and look really cool. If anyone has any ideas let me know! I wanna train her off leash and have read some stuff online but if anyone has any pointers on that, that'd be great! I gotta get her to pay attention to me outside and that is proving impossible because all she wants to do is look at everything around her and explore. She is a very curious dog.

One of my best friends, Jessica White Plater, coming in to town and we are having a girls night tomorrow! We have been friends ever since the 6th grade. I'm so excited to see her! I got to see her at my wedding but it was so chaotic I really didn't get to see her that much. I miss that girl. Every time we get together it feels like nothing has changed and we are right back in Jr. High. I love friendships like that. I am so grateful to all of my friends. I feel like I have made some amazing lifelong friendships. I love how all my girlfriends are real and have my back too. I'm a pretty lucky girl! I'm gonna give a shout out to my girls: Kiersten, Jaelyn, Valerie, Rachel, Jessica, Nicole, Emily! I love you guys! Of course I have other girls whom I adore and love but haven't talked to for a bit. I feel like I have become consumed in our married bubble.

My little sister Bailey is having to deal with mean jr high girls right now. Girls are mean in Jr High and High School. Unfortunately when you grow up you have to deal with them some more, but it gets better. I've definitely had some drama friends and they drive me nuuuuutso! I can't deal with people who only think about themselves and think the world revolves around them. I just wanna sit some of Bays friends down and freak out on them. Haha. I love Bay so much she is the sweetest girl she is always trying to include everyone and be everyones friend. Girls are just jealous cuz shes a babe and actually has standards. People are drawn to her :). I'm so proud of her for making it onto her High School dance team!! It was very competitive and their dance team is nationally ranked they are amazing! She deserves it that girl dances so many hours everyday it is insane.

I don't know what happened to me but I am no longer the girl who works out everyday and feel like im losing my muscle. I HATE THAT FEELING. I feel like I don't have a drive anymore. I feel so worn out physically and mentally every week. I used to hit the gym after work. My job is seriously so draining, I have so much to do every day and so many people to take care of I stress out so much that something got missed. I'm on my feet all day for 13 hours at work, I come home from work and all I want to do is sleep. But I don't want to because I wanna spend time with Chris and Kiara but feel like a zombie. The spare time I have goes to studying or sleeping. The gym classes near us at golds just suck too. I miss kickboxing. They have one kickboxing class on tuesday nights and thats it. I miss being competitive. I miss having something to win. I miss Golf, Softball and Tennis. I would love to do soccer too. If anyone knows of any teams I could join I'd be one happy girl! I wish I had more time to do things and I'm not even a Mom yet! Maybe when I'm done with school one day it will be easier... But I hear it keeps getting harder. We've got med school ahead of us so I prob won't be seeing chris at all during that time.

Well Chris is currently taking a 6 week physics class that is ruling his life Monday-Friday. Hes also taking a sports science class. He is still working nights at TOSH too. He cut down his hours for 6 weeks though there is no way he'd be able to function if he didn't. I'm still working and I took on 2 classes this summer.. woo (so sick of school I could throw up everyday.) I'm taking pathophysiology and english 2010.

Our new place still needs organization in our second bedroom and I have no idea when I will sit down and do that. Our backyard still needs work too and so does our little storage unit. One day it will get completed. But life is good! Kiara has made us even happier we just adore her. She was taking a nap with chris today and decided it would be fun to pounce on his head! Haha needless to say it freaked him out. I just killed a flying mosquito eater and was screaming the whole time. I couldn't find the body though so I may be freaking out some more later those things do not die. I woke Kiara up and she came over and howled at me haha she sounded angry. Both her and Chris need to get over the fact that I scream bloody murder when I see bugs. I've always been this way I have 0 control of what I do when I see one! It scares me so bad! Haha.

Kiara is currently sleeping on my feet. She is pretty tired she played with the neighbors dogs today. She owns a dog grooming salon and boards dogs so she always has random dogs over it is awesome! Today was some poofy standard poodle thing with a Tina Turner hair do, I do not like poodles but she was pretty cute and was scared of little Kiara, there was a very angry yorkie who didn't want any dog coming near him to play it was so funny kiara didn't understand, then there was another poodle thing that kiara kept playing with but she played a little rough and kiara didn't like that kind of play, she kept forgetting she didn't like playing with her though because she would try again later and realize she hated it and run to my feet, then lastly a little dachshund who was extremely fast I didnt realize they could move that quick with their stubby legs!

I'm glad I have little Kiara while Chris is at work. She makes me feel a little safer even though she couldn't do anything. I will feel even better when she gets bigger! I watched Pretty Little Liars tonight so that has made me pretty jumpy. I love that show though! Well I am going to study some patho yaaay!

I LoVe HeR!

I am absolutely in love with our little puppy, Kiara. She is a Siberian Husky. She is the best puppy! We got her on Sunday and she was so worth the 2.5 hour trip to get her. She is gorgeous. She is white and tan and has this white streak on her face and bright blue eyes! I love her eyes. They keep getting lighter.

The first 2 days she was a little timid in our house and backyard and cautious with her exploring. But she did a lot better than I thought! Shes pretty spunky. It was hilarious though, she HATED our tile in our house. Every time we went in the kitchen or bathrooms she would howl at us until we came back. I love her little howl. After each howl she snorts in air through her nose and howls again. She has been sleeping with Chris and I. We couldn't help it. She usually wakes up once during the night, one night she got up 3 times and I almost died haha.

So far she has played with chris's 3 yr old brother twice this week and their little puggle 3x, Kiba. She is so good with Josh. She hasn't been too bitey yet. Chris's sister came over and babysat her Thursday because we were gone all day and she just loves her. She brought Kiba and ever since Kiara has been able to go up and down the stairs and has been running on our tile! Now that she goes on the tile she goes right up to the sliding glass door and whines to be let out or we leave the screen door exposed and she can just walk right through it since the bottom part flaps open when pushed. She has done it all day! 0 mistakes. The only mistakes she has had (2) was our fault because we didn't let her out right away when we let her out of her kennel. I'm so proud of her!

We've been working on tricks too. She is so smart. I think she has sit and shake down. She did it for me 4x today towards the end of training her. We shall see if she remembers tomorrow! She sleeps a ton haha. She will wake up for maybe an hour and then fall right back asleep.

She has a million toys. Shes not a fan of her rubber ones as much. But loves her stuffed animals, rope and bones! She loves the backyard plants and weeds. (That is our next project) She pounces on all the weeds and yanks them out. And loves weaving through our overgrown tree. It is so dang cute!

She does pretty well in her kennel for the most part. She was howling and whining in the beginning but now she just whines a little bit and then quiets down. She actually went into her kennel today on her own and played then slept. Her kennel is huge (it will fit her when shes all grown up) so we have been worried she will make a mistake in there when we leave her but so far shes been perfect. I think the longest she has been left is 4 hours. Which is pretty long for a 7 week old puppy!

Chris and I have adjusted to our new place already. We loooove it. We have so much more room everywhere! We just love our new puppy. She is definitely what we needed. Shes amazing.

We've been busy!

I just realized Chris and I have hardly taken any photos since our honeymoon! I will post the few that we do have though. New goal: take pictures of our life so we can remember all the fun things we do!

So after 5 months of renting our cute cheap little apartment we have decided to move! I will miss it for the most part. I will not miss our noisy swamp cooler, the heat in our backroom, our smelly dishwasher, walking up our 3 flights of stairs, the sliding glass door that is our front door, or lugging laundry across the street. The last 2 were the worst. But it is an amazing price for how much space we get. It also had a bunch of other pros that the other places we looked at did not. We have been looking for townhouses and other houses to rent for the last month and finally found one last week! It is a townhouse and the family is moving out next week! It is so cute! It has a nice backyard, a bigger kitchen, nice big open living room, a nice washer and dryer that we bought from the previous owner for only $200, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Right across the street is Union Park. It is this huge park with 4 baseball fields and a sidewalk that goes all the way around it. Perfect for walking and bike riding! Another pro? They mow the lawn and backyard for us! I can't believe we are moving. We have quite a bit to do! I am super stoked we got a good deal on this place. We are meeting with the landlord on Friday to go over the application and do the credit and background checks.

One of the main reasons we are moving is due to the fact that we have been wanting a doggy! And I refuse to have a dog in an apartment its so not worth it. So 2 days after finding our townhouse we started looking up dogs on KSL and researching which breed we should get. My top 2 dogs I've always wanted is a Husky and German Shepherd. After a lot of reading and thinking we decided on a husky. We found 5 super cute huskies in Leamington, Utah. Yes you read that right, there is a city in Utah called Leamington! We were visiting his family for Mothers Day in Orem and found these huskies in good ol' Leamington. I had never even heard of this place and Chris said it was only 30 minutes from Orem. Ha. Last time I listen to Chris's estimates. It was an hour and a half away! It was waaaaay West of Nephi. Ridiculous. But luckily worth it! The parents are incredible. The mom is this gorgeous white husky with ice blue eyes. She is amazing with the kids and cats and was very well behaved. The dad was also unbelievable. He is a red husky and sooo furry. He had one blue eye and one brown eye. He had the same temperament as mom and both won us over. I seriously could not decide between 3of the puppies. One was a red male with blue eyes, the other a black male with blue eyes and both had incredible masks! The black one kept howling at us and climbing into our laps. The last one was the one we decided on! She was the only female and she is white and tan with bright blue eyes. She is so gorgeous! The breeders think she will end up having a light red/tan mask on her face. I could only see a white streak on her face, but she is sooo cute. She will have a coat more like her mom (short haired.) We do not get her for another 2 weeks though! I have decided I am very impatient, its only been 3 days. I want her now!!! We started thinking up names so the breeders could start calling her by it. I think we have settled on Kiara for now. It means "warrior girl" in eskimo. The other 2 we love is Ryka and Nikita (unconquerable). Its hard since we don't have her and cant see her little personality. We have already bought her a bed and some doggy toys. We also bought her a little hot pink collar. I've also been researching dog food and have found a few that will work. Its amazing all the crap they put in dog food these days. Dogs cannot digest corn or wheat!! Keep it out of their food.

Chris and I started school again. He is taking this intense 6 week physics course in which he has to go to class 5 days a week and has homework every night and a test every Friday. On top of that he is taking a exercise science class bla. I'm taking pathophysiology and english 2010. I'm so sick of school I just want a break. I don't think I will ever get one though. Next sememster I have to take english 1010, biology 1610 (cuz slcc is dumb and their nursing program requires a diff type of bio), creative arts, humanities and maybe a history class. Aaaah. I hope I get into WSU or SLCC's nursing program in Spring 2013. Then 2 semesters and I'm an RN!

I am currently working at 2 care/rehab centers as an LPN. I am starting to like it. It is crazy hard work. I miss my hospital environment. Its what I have known for 2 years so its a hard adjustment. I never thought I would work in a care center. But I have to admit I have grown a soft spot for the elderly. They are just so funny and so amazing. Most of them have done so much in their lives. Even the grumpy ones crack me up. Chris is loving his job still. He is at TOSH and just loves it. He got his hours switched so he only works one full graveyard a week and 3-11pm a couple other nights. Yay! I was so sick of the 3 in a row graveyards I felt like I was never seeing my husband! He'd be gone at night and sleep the whole day. Lame. Its only the first week on the new schedule and I love it!

Well I think that is all for my little update. I don't think I have posted wedding pics up on here. I gotta upload those one day. Pictures take so long to upload on this thing!

RIP Penny

Ever since we got penny spayed a few years ago we knew she may not live the 15 years Jack Russell's usually do. The vet found growths on her uterus when he took it out, we never got a biopsy on them because it was so expensive and we figured she'd show signs if she was suffering. My dogs had been getting a little chubby, so a year and a half ago my family upped their exercise and controlled their food intake better. Lucy (her mom) dropped a lot of weight and looked great but penny never lost that weight in her belly... we figured she probably had some growths in her belly because she should have gotten smaller. Since Christmas we noticed a few big lumps on her belly and a small one on her hip. We had never been able to see or feel them until then...I tried telling myself that it may be the last time I saw her when I left, but I never fully grasped it. Shes always been extremely hyper, more so than her mom. I always figured the tumors were benign since she had never been slowed down.

A month and a half ago she started showing signs that this was not true. She started slowing down, limping and overall decreasing in energy. My Dad bought some special vitamins that have worked miracles with some dogs in this condition. We were hopeful but they didn't work. I talked to my Dad today and he told me they will be putting her down tomorrow night. I can't believe how sad I have been over this. I haven't lived with my family or dogs for almost three years. You'd think it'd be easier to say goodbye. I just wish I could see her one last time... I have been skyping with my family the past few weeks and was able to see her that way but its just not the same. Shes always been my little puppy.

Just barely in September Pen had gotten bit by a baby rattlesnake. Her whole neck had swelled to an immense size within 20 minutes. The Anti-Venin is like 3,000 bucks so my Dad had called to tell me they were going to put her down. That dumb dog lived through it amazingly enough. Most dogs do not. Especially from baby rattlesnakes.. they haven't learned how to control their venom yet. I balled my eyes out that night and called Chris (who was my bf at the time) at like 11:00pm after he had already said goodbye and was at home. I could barely talk on the phone haha. He said he would come over right then. I told him not to but he didn't listen. I am so glad he didn't. That night after having been so back and forth on whether I should break up with Chris or marry him, I had my answer. Looking back to how much I had hurt over a dog may seem so silly to some people. But he understood. She was my baby and has been since I watched her come into this world. Chris just stroked my hair, and said everything and anything to make me feel better. He listened to my endless stories about penny all night. And also immediately recalled scripture verses that tell us we will see our animals again.Who does that?! He is so understanding and I guess Penny helped me see how amazing my future husband was that night. For a week straight I had called to make sure Pen was okay since the Vet had told us it could take a few days till they really knew if she would live or not. I can't believe she made it. I do believe the venom sped up the growth process for these tumors though and weakened her immune system.

Things my dumb dog did:
  • 3x she has attacked a porcupine, and each time my dad removed every quill. There were hundreds each time. We had to wrap her up in a towel and I had to pin her down and hope she didn't bite us when he removed them. She definitely tried. The worst part was seeing them in her mouth and eyelids. There were so many in her mouth she couldn't close it. We kept finding random quills in her skin and around the house for weeks after. I will never forget my uncle Josh saying we should just put her down as he was pinning Penny down so my Dad could take the quills out. He couldn't believe how many quills she had in her and didn't understand how much we loved that dumb dog.
  • Both our dogs have been sprayed by skunks multiple times. I don't even know how many anymore. I'd guess about 5. And that smell sticks to everything for quite a while.
  • She bit our mail man. Multiple times. I don't know why she hated him so much. While in Utah our mail man got really good at whistling for them and they would run out and bark until we got to the door. She always bit at his ankles and held onto his pants a few times. Meanwhile Lucy would circle him and bark. I'm sure he just loved delivering to our house.
  • Anything she sees that moves she attacks. She does not play well with other dogs. She has attacked quite a few dogs that are far bigger than her! We had to get her a muzzle when we took her on walks. She literally goes in her own world when she sees a dog and can't listen to anything else. If she sees a dog on walks and can't get to them she immediately attacks Lucy!
  • She of course tried to bite the baby rattlesnake.
  • She attacked a frog and immediately spit it out and then started foaming at the mouth. Haha
  • Shes been picked up by the pound multiple times. Both her and Lucy sprint away if they accidentally get let out. If they don't get picked up by the pound Lucy will find her way back to us and we always pray Penny is following her or else she never would. One time the pound found her barking in one of the sewage gutters off the side of the road haha who knows how she got down there.
  • Lucy was a great mouser. Everytime lucy would catch a mouse Penny would shred it right away. Penny tried catching the mice but it was lucy who ended up getting them.
Things I want to remember about Pen:
  • If penny is sleeping and you accidentally bump her she will growl and look at you like you did the worst thing in the world to her, then she will either hop off whatever she was on or walk away.
  • If you walk in the house and don't greet her right away she will sit down near you, staring and make a weird growling noise and throw a tantrum and slam her front paws into the ground over and over, then she will sneeze because the growling tickles her, then she will spin around in a circle on her butt. She also does this while we are eating at the dinner table or if she feels she isn't getting enough attention.
  • How ADD she is. It was so hard training her. She was so stubborn she wouldn't do any tricks unless a treat was involved. But if a treat was involved she would get to excited and wouldn't be able to think. So we'd get a treat out for her and she'd go through every trick she knew.
  • My favorite trick I taught her was "Please." She'd get up on her hind legs and move her front paws up and down as fast as she could. She could stay on those hind legs for quite a while. It was easy to teach her this. I saw her doing it one day when she wanted my sandwich that was on my dresser and tried to get her to do it over and over again, which she did.
  • Watching her play in the hose is so funny. Lucy loves it and could do it all day everyday. While we would do it Penny would join in here and there to try her turn at attacking the water but she would get so frustrated she would do a high pitched growl/bark and either attack lucy or try attacking the hose I held. Penny would end up walking away multiple times while playing in the hose because she hates getting wet.
  • When her and the other puppies were born my friends and I would always lay them on their backs on our legs with our knees up and would tickle them to sleep. That is pennys favorite thing, to be tickled on her stomach. She will come up to us and go in beg position and a lot of the time will just throw her body backwards and expect us to catch her so she could get her tummy rubbed.
  • Penny had puppies my Junior year in high school I think? She had 4 puppies. I felt so bad when she had them she definitely did not have as easy of a labor as Lucy. I honestly don't think she knew what was happening when she had her first one! Once she had all her puppies she was a nervous wreck haha. She didn't understand why they were always crying. She started picking them up with her mouth and pacing the room. She was so concerned it was so cute and funny. She would also huddle them up in the corner of her box and sit on them haha it took her a few days then she became a really good mommy. She was very protective of them. Lucy was a lot more relaxed but Penny took a while to warm up to the idea of us holding them. When we were she kept running back and forth between her pile of pups and the one we held and would nudge it and try to take it back to her pile haha. It was really cute.
  • I loved how she was so cuddly. She would always want to cuddle. She would also always cuddle right up to my face too. She only licked when she wanted to which wasn't often or if we said, "kisses."
  • I loved how she would keep running with me no matter how tired she was.
  • I loved how she always had to be in front of lucy and I when we walked
  • I loved how when I came home and yelled "Hello?" to see if anyone was home she would start howling like she was mimicking the tone of my voice which would get lucy to howl in the highest weirdest bark noise.
  • I loved how eager she was about life she was always excited and happy and she loved being around her family.
  • I loved how she always knew when I was sad and would cuddle up to me and try to lick my tears away.
  • I love how she always stands or sits underneath our feet while we were in the kitchen. Someone would usually end up tripping over her. She lived for food.
  • I loved watching her attack baileys stuffed animals she was constantly trying to hump baileys big pink bunny.
  • I loved how she reminded me of a kite when we walked she would never stop moving and would just constantly go back and forth.
  • I loved how tough she thought she was when she saw a huge dog
  • I loved how she would have to be touching me when she slept, and it was usually in between my legs.
  • I loved her tiny little tale (my dad cropped her tale when she was born) it would always wag so fast back and forth and her butt would move along with it
  • I love how she would lift up one of her back legs when she would run, especially on walks
  • I love her beautiful markings
  • I love how I could always tell which mood she was in. She was a very moody dog. She'd get jealous, angry, anxious, happy, ADD, excited, frantic, needy, impatient, bossy. She was always hyper and had so much energy.
  • I love how she will just jump up on someone when they are sitting and stare at them till they pet her.
  • I loved how she would let me hold her like a baby and was always so trusting of our family.
  • I loved how she would rarely listen to us but when we said "treat" she'd be the first to come.
  •  I loved how she would take 10 minutes to get comfortable with a pile of blankets, and rearrange them with her teeth and paws.
  • I loved how she would have to pee wherever lucy peed.
  • I loved how she would lay in front of lucy and wait for her to lick her and when lucy got annoyed and walked away she would get a look on her face that was so sad and confused haha.
  • I loved how she would whine and growl for attention and twist back and forth on her back.
  • I loved how she would scare me to death because she would randomly bark once because she thought she heard something.
  • I loved when me, dad, or bay would chase eachother around the house laughing and screaming how she would always attack the person who was being chased
  • I loved how she would beg for food and acted like she had never eaten a day in her life.
  • I loved how she helped me clean up dog poo by eating it haha
  • I loved how everytime I tried to brush her teeth she would hit me away with her paws
  • I loved how sad she looked during and after bathtime
  • I loved how everytime I looked under the bed she would try to lick my face and roll around in front of me and try to back me up from looking under there.. because usually everytime I looked under I'd find something chewed up and she would get in trouble.
  • I loved how when she got in trouble she would look sad and sorry while I was scolding her then as soon as I turned around she acted like nothing had happened.
I couldn't make up my mind whether to put I love or I loved. I love her and always will. I have many nicknames for her that I want to remember which include: puppy, pen pen, p-p-pen, puppy, baby puppy, dog, lil dog, and lil girl. And of course when her and lucy are together I call them, the dogs. After my cousin Jacob. When he came and visited one time he loved our dogs so much and would run around the house saying, the dogs!

Tonight after skyping with my family and seeing penny I know she needs to be put down. She lived for food and hasn't even been eating treats the last few days, she didn't sleep last night and just mopes around with barely any energy and stares off in space. Shes too uncomfortable to lay down and yelped yesterday when she was being pet on her belly. Shes not herself and doesn't look very happy. She is definitely not the hyper and energetic little dog I saw at Christmas. She will be in a better place and definitely a lot happier. She was part of our family and I love her so much she will always be my baby puppy and I know one day we will be reunited. Its funny to think about my Mom threatening to get rid of her so many times haha it was always after something she did that was bad. I knew she could never get rid of her. :) It is cool to see how much Penny really meant to my mom and dad. She was a pain in the butt but we all loved her. And I know Bailey feels the exact same way as I do... This blog is mainly for me to look back on in the years to come and remember Penny and how much she means and meant to me. I think it is also a good way to grieve and say goodbye. I know there are some people out there who won't understand the love I have for animals and my dogs. I'm sure they will read this or part of it and roll their eyes. But Penny means so much to me, I love her. I think I will always feel bad that I wasn't with her when we put her down or at least to say Goodbye. Dogs will always be a part of the family to me. They all have separate personality's and Penny sure had a big one she just came in a small package.

Goodbye Pen Pen, I love you, thank you for being there for me, and for making my life better and happier. Thank you for helping me see how much I loved and needed Chris and for opening my eyes to how amazing he is.

Hunger Games

March 23rd...... 8:00pm. Where will the Hills be you ask? Watching the Hunger Games movie baby!!! I really hope it does not disappoint! My best friend Kiersten got 2 extra tickets on accident and we snatched them up right away! I am so pumped to see it! Obsessed with hunger games... yes. With good reason the book is amazing. AND HAVE YOU SEEN THE TRAILERS? Wow. I truly feel they did a good job on the movie... I'm begging and pleading silently that the movie is close to the book and meets expectations. It looks like they spent a lot of money but ya never know. On the honeymoon I read the hunger games again. Just the 1st unfortunately the 3rd upset me too much haha; in my opinion the 3rd is a one time read. Chris read them all again though, he is a speedy reader, even faster than me!

I decided it was important.. nay a must, for me to dress up like Katniss for the movie. I just have to...it won't be that hard either. I'm going to braid my hair back in her signature single braid, wear a black t-shirt, tan cargo pants, and it gives me an excuse to buy those leather lace up ankle boots I've been wanting! (Chris I hope you are reading this so you can prepare for, yes, even more shoes in the house!) Then of course I'll need the golden mockingjay pin!

I have the links to a few trailers listed below. I tear up everytime I read or watch the trailer and Prim gets called! I don't know why but I have always pictured Prim as Bailey and know I would do the same thing for her. Which is another reason I was not particularly fond of the 3rd book. Chris actually caught me on the honeymoon crying while I read that part! Haha he couldn't believe it and said its not real you are just reading! Haha. Doesn't matter though, it is real to me.
